Remote Access Instructions for AOL,
CompuServe, and MSN Users

You cannot access the CMU Library's research databases using CompuServe's, MSN's, or older versions of America Online's integrated Web browser. In order to connect to the library's databases, you will need to either upgrade to the newest version of AOL, or download a copy of Netscape Navigator (NOTE: do not use Netscape 6.0). You can also get a copy of Netscape Navigator from AOL by entering Keyword: netscape, and following the downloading and installation directions.

If you choose to install Netscape on your computer, follow these steps to access library databases:

  1. Open up your AOL, CompuServe, or MSN connection as usual.
  2. Log on to AOL, CompuServe, MSN, and then start Netscape on your computer.
  3. Follow the link to the research database you wish to use and enter your name and Campus ID number when prompted.

For additional assistance, contact the University Library Reference Desk at 774-3470, or Ask a Librarian via e-mail.
